If The Women’s Dress Shoe Fits, Buy It!

In this age of enlightenment, how come we still call them women’s dress shoes?

Sure, most of the time we wear our women’s dress shoes with a dress, but more often than not we also wear them with our tailored trousers, business suits and jeans. But we don’t call them “tailored trousers shoes” do we?

The. . . damn. . . things. . . hurt. The moral of the story being “Yes girls, your designer dress shoes will always get you your man!”

So here are my not-so-serious tips on how to have a wardrobe full of fabulous women’s dress shoes:*Make the shoe salesperson your “new best friend”. *Forget comfort when you’ve got class! *Remember cost does not equal comfort when shopping for designer dress shoes.

Far be it from me to postulate on learning nothing from our forefathers (oops, I mean mothers!), but as long as Mr Blahnik, and Jimmy Choo, and assorted other grand masters of shoe design keep making designer women’s dress shoes (there’s that phrase again) that are simply to-die-for, well, bunions be damned, I’ll die for them!

Womens narrow dress shoes are very hard to find. Finding womens narrow dress shoes is, in fact, harder than finding larger womens sized shoes!

Being petite may be nice – but shopping for petite shoes is a real big problem! Even when petite sized shoes are found, they are often still too wide to fit a petite and narrow foot!

Some stores carry narrow shoes, but the chain shoe stores and discount stores usually don’t. Specialty clothing stores that sell clothing specifically for petite women often carry shoes, but their selection is typically very limited. What is a woman with narrow feet to do? Start in the chain stores. Discount stores will rarely special order anything for anybody, but sometimes the chain shoe stores will – if you ask, and if you pay a deposit up front. You next option is to visit a small privately owned shoe store. You will also enjoy very personalized service in these types of stores that you won’t find in the chain stores and discount stores – of course, you will pay for that service by paying a higher price for the shoes unfortunately.

It has successfully pressurized major importing retailers in USA not to purchase from the black listed leather goods’ manufacturers from third world countries. Fashion accessories have changed to leather made goods for Asian affluent of late what with their respective economies showing strong growth rates. Forget the economy for a while; leather goods are fashion symbols.

Tips for Maintaining Leather Shoes

One of the best investments you can make is on quality leather shoes. This mathematical impossibility is nonetheless true, because by purchasing two pair of leather shoes, you can wear one pair every other day and allow the shoes to dry on a cedar shoe tree to absorb the moisture from your skin and from the leather while still holding the shoe in the correct shape. Cleaning your leather shoes is largely a matter of daily care and daily attention to any blemishes. Using all natural shoe care products allows the leather to breathe. If shoes do get damp, store them on a shoe tree to dry, but never place the leather shoes close to direct heat such as a stove or fireplace unit. Beeswax provides excellent water-repellent properties for protecting your leather shoes from the elements. There are also waterproofing type products sold where shoe care products appear that will help protect your shoes against the elements.

Conditioning your footwear helps to maintain soft and supple leather. Keeping the leather soft means the shoes will fit more comfortably too. Lanolin is great for softening the leather, while emu oil restores the natural moisture of the leather by deep penetration into the shoe.

Keep in mind that specialty leather products such as suede or patent leather have special products intended specifically for their care. Finally, many people have success in caring for their shoes with various household products not specifically created for leather shoes. The most important part of maintaining leather shoes is the daily condition, cleaning and care.
